Arminian Problem With Calvinism

“I have seen a few posts lately from Calvinist blogs about why people reject Calvinism. One Calvinist blogger stated that the real reason that people reject Calvinism is because we are prideful and want credit for our own salvation.

“The real reason that we Arminians reject Calvinism is the character of God. It is not our pride. It is not our love of free will or any other mockery. It is simply that we find the character of God to be loving and good in the Bible (as Calvinists would agree) and from that we believe that He created us in His image (Genesis 1:26-27).

“Further, free will flows not from man being prideful or the center of our theology but from our view that God created us with the capacity to be free moral agents who, through His grace, choose to love Him and worship Him. A forced relationship is not a loving relationship.”

  1. “…who, through His grace, choose to love Him and worship Him. A forced relationship is not a loving relationship.”

    What?
Haven’t you heard of the Stepford Wife of Christ?

  2. I always hear the Armenian side of this debate say, “God doesn’t force people to love Him.” I agree 100%, He gives them the capability to love Him and they want only Christ after the opening of their eyes, the changing of their heart, giving them ears to hear.Everyone because of his depravity will reject Christ, but by grace through faith (Eph. 2) we are saved.
Man will always chose what his heart desires. Man has (free will) but he is dead in sin and does not seek after God, no not one(Rom. 3:9-20). He either loves the things of the world and has nothing to do with God or God regenerates his heart and he desires the things Of Christ. Just as God opened Lydia’s heart in (Acts 16:14) He must open every heart that will believe.
Thank God for irresistible grace! Without it no one would be saved!

  3. Man is dead in his sins, the same as a man of death row is dead. “Dead man walking on the green mile.” It doesn’t mean he is already dead and thus literally incapable of movement, incapable of repentance, and so on. It means he’s on death row and unless something changes, he will die.
