Had to Get It Out

If you’re interested in the book that flipped me out last week, it made it into my sermon yesterday. The first five minutes cover it. The rest of the sermon is about the one true Christ and the multitude of false Christs that are out there, and how these false Christ’s might be part of what we believe about Christ Himself.

  1. That book sounds like a strange combination of eastern mysticism (or new age) and christianity.

Nothing should be clearer to a Bible believer than that when God has something to teach His people, He sends it through a chosen apostle, prophet, minister, etc. Thank God for that. In our own smaller sphere we can all be messengers for God, but only if we bring the word of God, and not our own wisdom.

“In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes [BAD].” Judges 21:25

“And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord [GOOD], as did David his father.” 1 Kings 15:11

Every useful and truthful thing I’ve learned has come through someone else who had their mind enlightened by the Holy Spirit. Every useless and foolish thing I’ve learned has come through counseling with others (including my own foolish heart) who did not know what they were talking about!

Pick your teachers carefully. I think that fits with your sermon…pick the teachers who lead you to see your corruption and God’s saving power, and not those who please the flesh.
