It’s easy to consume your life with yourself. While aging, I’ve noticed some stuff, learned some things, seen some patterns. Here’s a big lesson learned:
Nothing good I do for myself can benefit more than something good I do for someone else.
This is not earth shattering news, nor is it something out of the pure genius brain of mine. I’ll let the Apostle Paul say it, “I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Indeed. It’s really what life is all about. It’s what Christ did for us, it’s the example we are growing into. Even Dilbert knows that Jesus Christ was resurrected and it benefited others. Even the heathens can figure this out, why are Believers so far behind?
I know it took me this long to learn this lesson because I was having too much fun fulfilling my fleshly lusts, doing my own thing. Not very fulfilling in the end. Eternity looms, I won’t get rewarded for all the charming things I did in my alone time. I’ll be rewarded for the things I did to edify others, showing the love of Christ.
