The Eternity Of Now

Two days ago I found out my dad has cancer. Doctors take up a lot of time trying to find out what’s going on while you sit and wait for their verdict. Then the verdict comes and you still sit and wait.

Dealing with life and all the possibilities that can end it is frustrating. The small things of yesterday become the big things of today. Who knows what tomorrow brings. Knowing that there is an eternity coming with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is awful nice.

The perspective of eternity is amazing. Yet how often do we consider that our eternal life has already begun? At the point of salvation you entered eternal life with Jesus Christ. Christ repairs the past, secures the future and puts us in Now.

It’s already eternity because it’s Now. Now is eternal. No matter what time it is, it’s always Now. Now never ends. Now lasts forever. As I trudge on through life with Christ I have realized how important Now is. Regretting the past doesn’t help. Wishing for the future is pointless, the future can shift radically in one phone call.

Don’t worry about the past–it‘s already done; don’t worry about the future–it’s in God’s hands. Adopt the eternal perspective, which begins with–what am I doing Now? Live for Eternity and Eternity is Now.

Now is the accepted time–2 Corinthians 6:2

  1. Thanks. I am honored by the comparison. I also sniff like him and walk across hard floors in socks like him too.
